General
Dentistry at Randall G. Cohen, D.D.S.
Dr. Cohen has been treating families from all over Bucks County,
Philadelphia, New Jersey, and even from Europe for 26 years. For
these families, it is the precision, the comfort, the compassion,
and the convenience that makes them look forward to coming to our
office at the Village at Newtown for their routine dentistry. We
also keep to our schedule so that all patients are seen almost immediately
and before they know it their treatment is complete.
Teeth that are
sick from disease need to be treated so that they can heal. Sometimes,
even deep decay can be treated conservatively, despite how bad a
tooth might look at first glance. Conservative treatment, saving
as much tooth structure as possible is a cornerstone of our practice
philosophy.
Endodontics:
If a toothache occurs, it can often be treated by cleansing the
disease from the tooth while keeping the tooth in place and avoiding
unnecessary extraction. This treatment is called endodontics, or
root canal therapy; a procedure that has always been part of our
office routine. Following treatment, patients tell us that the procedure
was completely comfortable from start to completion, and that any
apprehension that they might have had was allayed immediately once
we were underway. This ease and comfort is achieved in our office
by gentle, methodical technique and by allowing more than enough
chairtime to complete the procedure so the local anesthetic is able
to work fully. We do absolutely what it takes to give our patients
a pleasant, comfortable experience when they have their work completed.
Oral
Surgery:
Wisdom teeth may not erupt properly and need to be removed so that
they do not cause further difficulty. Similarly, hopeless teeth
that are causing discomfort and disease are also removed in our
office under local anesthesia, and if you prefer, with some sedation
as well. Most of the time you do not need to go to a specialist;
we remove the teeth in our office which is more familiar and convenient.
Our patients do well during and following tooth removal because
comfort and meticulous technique are our top concern.
Bonding:
Cosmetic bonding can often be used to repair minor chips, cracks
and gaps in teeth. The bonding material is permanently made into
an integral part of the tooth and matched to your teeth color giving
you a natural, undetectable, perfect smile.
Fillings:
For many of us, the most important aspect of dental care is to preserve
what we already have! Fillings are now done more conservatively
and more esthetically than was possible in years past when silver/mercury
materials were used in teeth. When cavities form underneath these
old amalgam fillings, we safely remove all decay and the old filling
material. Then we restore the tooth with beautiful, long lasting,
highly polished bonded restorations that are the color of your teeth
so they defy detection even from close up.
Crowns:
If a tooth should become broken or should be seriously undermined
with decay, we have excellent treatment methods for this too! With
the same kind of bonding technology, we can use dental adhesives
to place highly esthetic cast crowns and onlays that bring the tooth
back to beautiful full function. Patients who take full advantage
of cast dentistry are making an investment in their long-term health
whose dividends pay off with dental work that can last a lifetime.
Bridges:
Dr. Cohen has been providing patients with traditional fixed bridges
for 26 years. Here we crown the existing teeth and use them to support
the replacement teeth; a treatment option that has a long and successful
track record. This is an excellent choice for many patients where
crowns would be needed for the supporting teeth anyway, taking care
of two separate issues; the broken-down abutment teeth and the missing
teeth which need to be replaced.
Dentures:
Full or partial removable dentures are one option for replacing
missing teeth. Some of the advantages are that the procedure for
creating them is quick, they are relatively inexpensive, and the
results are appealing. Most patients are pleased with their appearance
and learn to function well with them. As with all of our treatment,
dentures are done with meticulous care and with your comfort and
esthetics as our main goal.
